  • Woody Austin to Keep Wearing Tobasco Shirts

    As is his custom, Tiger Woods wore a red shirt in the final round in winning the PGA Championship. The Nike shirt worn by Woods featured the latest synthetic moisture-wicking fabric.


    Second-place finisher Woody Austin wore a Tabasco Golf Shirt with a line of palm trees marching across his chest and around his sleeves. The shirt''s blended fabric was largely old-fashioned cotton.


    Austin''s palm stripe shirt made another noteworthy appearance in another final round this year at Memphis. That''s when Austin won the event, shooting a sizzling 62 the last day of the Stanford St. Jude Championship. He also wore it when he finished tied for second at the Buick Open last month.


    "He likes anything that is not a solid, he likes stuff that''s busy because he doesn''t want to look like everybody else," says his agent, Kevin Canning of Goal Marketing.


    But comments Austin made about his shirts after the PGA Championship''s second round have caused confusion about the future of the Tabasco shirt program. Austin has had an endorsement contact with Tabasco Golf Shirts program for more than six years.
